Yard Waste

Yard Waste is collected on selected Mondays from April to November*, as noted below, and in our downloadable Town of Aurora's Recycling and Waste Collection Calendar . There is no limit on the amount of yard waste that can be placed for collection, providing that acceptable containers are used.
Acceptable Containers:
Please place weeds, plant trimmings and leaves in paper yard bags, or any ridgid open top container that has handles. Please bundle branches as follows:
- Individual branches must be no larger than 10 cm (4") in diameter;
- Bundles must be no more than of 22 kg (50 lbs) and no longer than 1 m (3 ft).
The maximum weight for individual paper yard bags or containers is 22 kg or 50 lbs.
The following items should not be placed with Yard Waste: Kitchen scraps, fruits and vegetables, grass clippings, rocks, dirt, sod, tree stumps, larger branches, flower pots/trays, painted or treated wood and animal droppings.
Please note: The Town of Aurora will not pick up leaves that have been raked or piled along roads. Non-containerized or non-bagged leaves present a traffic, drainage, and safety hazard. In addition, leaves can block culverts and roadside catch basins, and may cause flooding. Please help to keep these areas free of excess leaves.
