Public open spaces within Aurora range from landscaped public parks to environmentally sensitive river valleys meandering throughout the municipality and the Oak Ridges Moraine.
The Parks Division of the Parks and Recreation Services Department currently manages over 46 parks encompassing more than 700 acres. Connecting many of the parks is a Trail System of approximately 25 kilometres designed to accommodate joggers, hikers and skiers. It is anticipated that some of these trails will be connected with the developing Regional Trail System and others will be included as part of the emerging community bicycle path network.
In addition to planning, developing and maintaining Aurora's parkland, the Parks Division is also responsible for the outdoor maintenance of municipal buildings and facilities as well as municipal forestry.
The Parks Division may be reached at 905-727-3123, ext. 3222 or ext. 3223.
