Welcome to the Town of Aurora's website and thank you for your interest.
Mayor Phyllis Morris
This site offers an abundance of information about life and business in Aurora. Aurora is a strong and remarkable community and being part of it means you are in good company.
Aurora is unique among its Greater Toronto Area neighbours because of its history and culture. Located in the heart of York Region, our heritage shapes our community in so many ways, positively influencing the way our town operates and how our community of businesses and residents wish to see it develop in the future.
Aurora is a community rich in history, with a wonderfully preserved and active downtown train station, classic town square and a heritage residential and commercial area with many well preserved 19th Century buildings. Aurora is an environmentally aware community, located on the beautiful and environmentally sensitive Oak Ridges Moraine. An important focus for our community in coming years includes building on our civic and natural heritage to strengthen and define our future.
Our town has grown rapidly over the past 20 years and we work hard to welcome all newcomers and integrate them into the heart of the community. Aurora is a community that embraces diversity and progression to meet the needs of its residents. Aurora has a high level of community participation in local government, volunteer organizations, business groups, sports and recreational activities, arts, culture and heritage groups and environmental protection organizations.
If you are thinking about moving yourself, your family or your business to Aurora, you will receive a warm welcome. We are looking for individuals, families and businesses to help strengthen our community; those who seek a distinctive place to put down roots and call Aurora home for the future.
A low business tax rate, growth potential, excellent selection of housing, superb community facilities for families, good and improving transportation infrastructure and focus on community-building should make Aurora your first choice.
If you're already a resident of Aurora, then congratulations on living in one of the best communities in Canada -- a place we think can always be made better with a little creativity.
If you are interested in learning more about my thoughts about Aurora's future, please feel free to read my Inaugural Address as mayor.
Thank you for visiting our website. If you have any questions about Aurora, please call the Aurora Town Hall at 905-727-1375. I look forward working together with our Council and Aurora residents to make Aurora a better place to call home!
Yours truly,
Phyllis Morris
