Building & By-law Services

Building Services

Building permits are required to ensure new construction complies with the zoning by-law and meets the minimum provisions set out in the Ontario Building Code for public health, fire protection and structural sufficiency. The OBC code is Provincial regulation administered by the Housing Development and Buildings Branch of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Under the Building Code Act, local governments are responsible for the enforcement of the Ontario Building Code within their municipality.
